There’s love in the air when Emma (Ambika Mod) and Dexter (Leo Woodall) first walk across each other’s graduation stage in 1988. While their romantic journey may not unfold precisely as intended, passions ignite. Their past relationship only deepens and becomes more complicated as the years pass and they start to drift apart.
Mod and Dexter portray the ups and downs of their changing relationship with amazing chemistry and nuance, giving their characters depth and authenticity. Throughout the entire series, their on-screen dynamic keeps viewers completely captivated, from lighthearted banter to poignant conversations.
In keeping with the spirit of David Nicholls’ best-selling book, director Nicole Taylor’s adaptation adds a touch of modern charm while preserving the essence of a traditional British love story. Emma’s character arc could have been enhanced by more attention to her family dynamics, even though the main characters’ romantic journey takes up most of the attention.
